Homeopathy

A system of treatment that involves taking therapeutic substances diluted according to homeopathic rules; founded by Samuel Hahnemann (1755–1843)

Homeopathy is based on the Similarity (Similia) Principle, which essentially states that "like should be cured by like". In other words, a substance that may cause an illness is used to treat that same illness, with the original substance diluted according to specific proportions, from heavily to very little. For example, "Crotalus C200"' means that this snake venom has been diluted homeopathically with water and alcohol 200 times at a ratio of 1:100. The substances may be of animal, plant or mineral origin. Homeopathic treatment involves taking a comprehensive patient history and identifying the right substance (repetorisation).

Aim: to encourage the body's own self-healing mechanisms and to stimulate the immune system
