When it comes to acquiring new clients, CSS relies heavily on its own sales force. But it also works with brokers. In order to promote high quality and cost-effective advice, CSS support self-regulation within the industry. At present, this consists of the industry agreement drawn up by curafutura, which is intended to promote quality and transparency among brokers (Link to website) and the CICERO initiative launched by the Swiss Insurance Association, which promotes training for client advisors. In spite of these voluntary agreements, there remain certain unwelcome practices in the broker channel that need to be stopped. That is why CSS is in favour of stepping up cooperation throughout the entire health insurance industry to achieve more extensive self-regulatory agreements. If it is not possible to achieve such self-regulation within a reasonable period of time, tighter regulation at the legislative level will be called for.
