Anthroposophic medicine

A treatment concept founded by Dr Rudolf Steiner.

According to Steiner, the human body unites four dimensions: the physical body (the visible body), the etheric body (energising life processes), the astral body (the mental dimension of feeling, awareness and passion) and the ego (the centre of the personality).

Health is defined as harmony between these dimensions, and complaints and illnesses are to be treated by restoring this state of balance. Therapy involves taking anthroposophic remedies, but may also include other anthroposophic methods as (rhythmic) massage, art, music and speech therapy, and therapeutic eurythmy, which is a special form of movement therapy.
