Drama therapy

Drama therapy refers to the targeted use of concepts drawn from drama and theatre for counselling and therapeutic purposes. It is active, experimental and reflexive, integrating thoughts, feelings and actions. This helps people to integrate the emotional, cognitive and physical aspects of their experiences.

Drama therapy is practised as a methodological element of various areas of psycho-social work, as well as a therapeutic discipline in its own right. In many countries, it is already an integral part of work in schools, homes, hospitals, psychiatric clinics and other social institutions, used in a wide range of areas from prevention through to personal development and rehabilitation.
