Cold water (room temperature)
For light and small burns and scalds (smaller than the palm of the hand), the affected area should be cooled with cold water (room temperature rather than ice cold) for 10 to 15 minutes.
This relieves the pain, cools the burn and often prevents the forming of blisters.
Don't burst any blisters that may nevertheless have formed. If a blister bursts by itself, the skin should be left and the blister should be disinfected and covered with a sticking plaster.
