Theatergala 2025

CSS Theatergala

CSS has been a partner and sponsor of the Theatergala since 1994. This charity event has become one of the main fixtures in the cultural and social calendar in Central Switzerland.

For a good cause

All donations and ticket revenues from CSS Theatergala go to Caritas Lucerne. The proceeds are used to support aid projects that help people living below the poverty line in Central Switzerland. Thanks to the commitment of CSS and the gala attendees, more than CHF 2 million has been raised to date for this good cause.

CHF 65,000 for a fitting finale

On 24 October 2025, CSS and the regional Caritas Organisation for Central Switzerland hosted the 31st CSS Theatergala at a fully sold-out Lucerne Theatre. The proceeds from the sale of tickets for the opera Luisa Miller by Giuseppe Verde raised the sum of CHF 65,000. That brings the total collected since the beginning of the partnership in 1994 to more than CHF 2 million in aid for people living in poverty.

Helping people affected by poverty

All of the money will be used to help people in Central Switzerland who are living in precarious financial circumstances. It enables Caritas to counsel them on money issues including debt and debt enforcement, budget planning and seizure of assets, and to provide them with support and emergency financial assistance when facing difficulties with authorities or creditors.

A decades-long commitment

CSS has a long tradition of commitment: it has been advocating for solidarity and support for people in difficult life situations ever since it was first founded as a self-help organisation in 1899. The charity event is an expression of these basic beliefs and a reminder that poverty is also an issue in Switzerland.

New charitable event

This was the last event to be held in collaboration with Lucerne Theatre. Autumn 2026 will see the dawn of a new era in which CSS teams up with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra to launch a new charitable event at the KKL.
