DevCon Lozärn 2025: A developer conference by employees, for employees

CSS employee Robin Lys as speaker at DevCon Lozärn 2025

Buzzing with ideas and deep in animated conversation, participants flow from one room to the next. At DevCon Lozärn, employees of CSS, Suva, CONCORDIA and MediData have come together to discuss current topics in software development and make new connections.

All you want to know about software development

DevCon Lozärn is a developer conference that began at CSS and, in 2025, was held for the first time in collaboration with Suva, CONCORDIA and MediData. At the DevCon held in 2024, around 160 CSS employees spent a full day exploring recent trends in software development and related topics. The concept is simple: Employees have the chance to design their own ‘sessions’ and present a topic of their choice. Participants can freely choose the sessions that interest them most.

Knowledge sharing is at the heart of the event. It’s also about networking and inspiring one another in both software development and related fields.

More companies, more knowledge

Thanks to the work of the DevCon organising committee, the inclusion of other companies was possible for the first time in 2025. The aim is to increase the value for employees by bringing in content and perspectives from other organisations.

Suva, CONCORDIA and MediData also appreciate DevCon as a regional platform for cross-company exchange.

We were delighted when CSS approached us, and it quickly became clear that we wanted to take part in DevCon Lozärn and support it.
Marco Odermatt, Scrum Master Suva, DevCon organising committee member

Impressions and comments on DevCon Lozärn 2025

Participants, speakers and members of the organising committee of DevCon Lozärn 2025 talk about their experience of the event.

Range of topics at DevCon

DevCon Lozärn offers participants a varied selection of parallel tracks featuring inspiring talks. What makes it particularly interesting is that all employees can propose their own topics and actively shape the content of the conference.

The focus is on software development and related fields, with each speaker choosing their own topic – which also creates space for interesting content beyond standard software development. Sessions come in various formats and lengths, allowing everyone to tailor their day to their personal interests.

I really appreciate the special DevCon setting. It’s not an international convention, but a small, personal and informal event.
Manuel Suarez, Tech Lead CSS, DevCon participant

Exchanges and networking

Personal exchange has always been a key element of DevCon. During the shared lunch break and at the apéro riche afterwards, there are countless opportunities to connect with colleagues and continue interesting conversations in a relaxed atmosphere. These informal encounters encourage the exchange of ideas within CSS while also opening the door to valuable insights into the challenges and approaches of colleagues from other companies.

Added value for participants

Software development is one of the most demanding forms of knowledge work. Rapid, targeted knowledge exchange is essential for creating effective solutions. This is why events like DevCon Lozärn are so important, as they allow for in-depth dialogue and personal encounters. For participants, this means not only interesting insights and new contacts but also a direct boost to their day-to-day collaboration – true to the idea that the more we learn from one another, the more successful we become.

In this way, DevCon has long made a valuable contribution to fostering an enduring culture of innovation at CSS, placing employees’ development and further training at the centre.

Dedicated organising committee

Every year, a hard-working team organises DevCon with great passion and dedication. This was displayed again in 2025 through the collaboration among team members from CSS, Suva, CONCORDIA and MediData. From planning the rooms and sessions to arranging the catering and apéro, the organising committee takes care of every detail.
