From ice hockey prodigy to CSS General Agent

Pascal Graber originally had his sights set on a career in professional ice hockey. Today, at 27, he is General Agent for CSS in Zug. His development has taken him through a commercial apprenticeship, various professional roles and initial leadership positions.

From sport to leadership

Anyone meeting Pascal Graber at the CSS agency in Küssnacht am Rigi today will encounter a young leader with clear goals. But his journey began very differently: Pascal grew up in Arosa and spent many years dreaming of a career in professional ice hockey. «I used to think about nothing but ice hockey,» says the 27-year-old. As a junior player with the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, he competed in the highest junior league. Then an injury brought his dream of a professional career to an end. «I don’t regret missing out on a professional career,» Pascal says. Instead, he found a new path beyond the ice rink.

A great opportunity at 22

Pascal first came into contact with CSS during his commercial apprenticeship. After completing an internship at the Rapperswil agency, he initially worked in administration before becoming a client advisor. In 2019, Pascal returned to Graubünden. Shortly afterwards, a major opportunity came his way: At just 22, he took over as Head of the Chur agency. His young age was never an issue.

The next step

At the beginning of 2026, Pascal took over as Head of the Zug General Agency, which covers the Zug, Küssnacht, Rotkreuz and Einsiedeln locations. Today, he leads a team of 24 employees. For him, one thing is clear: «At CSS, employee development isn’t just words on paper – it’s put into practice. I’ve always felt trusted and valued.»

Further education as part of his career

Alongside his career progression, Pascal has consistently invested in further education. His qualifications include a federally recognised diploma in financial planning, a vocational trainer qualification and numerous additional courses relevant to the industry. He later completed a CAS in Leadership at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Pascal is now in the final stages of his Executive MBA in General Management. For his master’s thesis, he analysed CSS’s entry into the life insurance market. Throughout his studies, it was important to him to combine theory with practical experience.

Studying full-time without putting what I learnt into practice would never have been the right path for me.

Support along the way

CSS supported Pascal’s further education both financially and with flexible working hours, allowing him to balance his job and his studies. «The company really does everything it can to help employees develop.» This support is one of the things Pascal values most about CSS as an employer. «At CSS, people come first – regardless of their age or role.»
