A commitment to provide cover is often required for treatment or a stay in hospital, providing clarity on whether CSS will assume the costs.
A commitment to provide cover is commonly needed for:

Important: You can always go straight to hospital in an emergency.
Patients themselves don't request a commitment to provide cover.It’s the doctor or hospital that gets in touch with us.
That way, you'll know before receiving treatment which costs will be covered, thus protecting you from unexpected expenses.
You’ll receive a letter or a message in myCSS as soon as a decision has been made. It will show you:
- whether a commitment to provide cover is being looked into
- whether it has been approved
- whether it has been rejected.
The easiest way to submit a bill for reimbursement is in myCSS. That way you’ll avoid delays and have all the documents in one place. Alternatively, you can send it to us by post.
